District 3: Let’s Help Georgian Hills Elementary School Create Holiday Baskets

Georgian Hills Elementary School is conducting a food drive to collect items for holiday baskets. Their goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity. Many neighborhoods in Memphis suffer from food deserts, meaning people have little to no access to high-quality grocery stores. Thus, Georgian Hills Elementary School’s effort to create holiday baskets is all the more meaningful. While many of us may be fortunate enough to have food on the table this Thanksgiving, some of our neighbors are not as lucky.

Examples of acceptable items include the following: pasta, canned veggies, bread or cornbread mix, and cakes mixes. Please keep in mind that the recipients may or may not have an electricity source to make food from scratch. With that in mind, if you are able, include shelf-stable food such as canned goods, applesauce, or rice.

Remember, you have until Monday, Nov. 18, to donate. Let’s come together to make a difference in the Frayser community.

If you have a story about a MSCS student, teacher, or school to highlight, please email us at [email protected]. Include the school name, story details, and an SCSK12.ORG email for follow-up.
