Memphis, TN – Through an initiative from the Department of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) from Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS), parents are getting an inside view into their students’ future career readiness.
In the heart of the vibrant 38122 community, Treadwell Middle International Community School has become a beacon of opportunity for local families. Through this partnership, the school is providing comprehensive support, including parent workshops and a Goodr store for grocery assistance, demonstrating its commitment to the community school model. This model aims to unite families, educators, and community partners to address students' diverse needs.

Recently, the school hosted a successful College 101 workshop in English and Spanish, empowering parents with essential knowledge about the college application process. Elvia Vieyra, an advisor for the Department of FACE, stressed the critical role parents play in providing both practical and emotional support to their children during this pivotal time.
Principal Brandon Hill emphasized the importance of these workshops, highlighting their alignment with the school's curriculum, which already prepares students for future career paths and college. He noted that the workshops are essential for families navigating the complexities of higher education.

The workshops fostered a strong sense of partnership between parents and the school, transforming informational sessions into catalysts for community empowerment. The impact of these initiatives extends beyond college applications, aiming to create a future where all children have the opportunity to succeed.
