As a proud Memphis native, Adaria C. embodies the grit and grind culture of the city. Throughout her time at White Station High School (WSHS), she has excelled academically, remained active in numerous extracurricular activities, and demonstrated resilience in the face of personal challenges. Her unwavering dedication to her school and community truly sets her apart.
Adaria has been deeply involved in several school organizations, including Model United Nations (UN), The Scroll, Key Club, MICAH Youth Council, and Girl Up. She also co-founded a mental health advocacy club called “StoryUnfinished.”
At The Scroll, White Station’s student newspaper, Adaria serves as the managing editor. Since joining the staff in her sophomore year, she has contributed extensively, focusing on the arts and entertainment stories – covering topics from Drake’s canceled Memphis concert to summer blockbuster films. She also ventured into investigative journalism. Adaria’s article, titled, “Superintendent Feagins ousted after nine months in office,” won Best In-Depth Article by the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association in March 2025. In Model UN, Adaria has been an active member since ninth grade. She served as secretary and president, previously representing her grade band as a junior. Her leadership and commitment helped shape the program for her peers and underclassmen.

Adaria’s dedication to service is equally notable. As a member of Key Club, she has accumulated over 100 volunteer hours at the Memphis Zoo, St. Jude Marathon, and Room In The Inn. Key Club sponsor Ms. Kirby shared, “I have seen her prepare, serve, eat with, and talk to residents at Room in the Inn.”
In February 2024, Adaria co-founded “StoryUnfinished,” a club dedicated to mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Inspired by the loss of her father in January 2021 during her eighth-grade year, Adaria recognized how the COVID pandemic amplified feelings of isolation for many students. “Being alone is usually the hardest part of suffering,” she says.
The club has grown an online presence with nearly 500 WSHS followers, sharing content focused on depression, anxiety, academic burnout, and self harm to manage mental health – all from a student’s perspective. Its motto: “Don’t let your story go unfinished.”
After graduation, Adaria plans to attend Rhodes College, where she will major in psychology on a pre-med track with the goal of becoming a pediatric psychiatrist. She also hopes to continue writing and pursuing journalism.
Reflecting on her MSCS journey, Adaria credits two teachers who shaped her path: Mrs. Kirby and Mr. Harrison. Kirby is her Algebra II teacher and Key Club sponsor who taught her the power of service. Harrison, Journalism teacher, showed her that leadership isn’t about volume. “Anyone can be a leader,” she says, “but you have to be a good listener first.”
Adaria leaves White Station with a heart full of gratitude. Her favorite memory? Senior Day at Six Flags, where she and her friends rode “The Boss,” a 122-foot-high roller coaster. She hadn’t ridden one since fifth grade, before the pandemic. It was a thrilling reminder of how far she’s come and the exciting path that is still yet to come.
