PURPOSE
Health Promotions is responsible for promoting and assisting with meeting the health needs of students, families, and district staff.
MISSION
Health promotions will meet health needs that will improve attendance, provide reliable health information, use data to strengthen ongoing professional development for staff and parents and make health information and services more accessible. Additionally, Health Promotions initiates strategic communication with District staff, parents/guardians, and medical providers to distribute analyzed data and plan and implement necessary precautions and medical services according to MSCS Policies, Tennessee State Laws, mandates, and guidelines.
THE ROLE OF CLINICS AND HEALTH PROMOTIONS
• Responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the school-based health clinics and employee family care centers
• Monitors and evaluate employee health programs
• Coordinates CPR/AED/FIRST AID
• Facilitates state-mandated school-based health screening (vision, hearing, blood pressure, height, weight, and scoliosis assessments for Pre-K, K, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9th grades). Consent is passive, meaning the child will be screened if the parent does not decline.
• Builds community partnerships with the healthcare community
• Increases students' access to health services (i.e., EPSDT, School-Based Dental)
